Obituary for Theo Charles Stewart Jr.

Theo Charles Stewart Jr. entered into the presence of his Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 16, 2023.

Born in Sumter County, he was the son of the late Theo Charles Stewart and the late Beulah Horton Stewart.

Mr. Stewart was a proud Veteran of the US Army where he was responsible for setting up communications and power lines during the Korean War. After the war, he was offered a position in South Korea, but declined so he could return to the states where he began his career in water and sewer line construction. Because of his vast knowledge and experience Mr. Stewart was able to start his own construction company where he was trusted and respected by all who knew him. After retiring from construction, Mr. Stew-art started his lawnmower repair business where he kept busy well into his eighties.

Survivors of Mr. Stewart include his sister, Betty Reeser; and numerous nieces and nephews, along with his step-grandchildren.

Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred L. Stewart; his brother, Dickie Stewart; his sister, Lillie M. Stewart Brown; his stepdaughter, Louise Boykin Weaver; and stepsons, J.T. Boykin and Gene Boykin.

Mr. Stewart was a faithful member of Sumter Bible Church where he was honored on Friday by Mr. Laurance Kannon dedicating his teacher devotion in Mr. Stewart’s memory, “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be sub-ject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”.

The family would like to thank Mr. Stewart’s caregivers, Barbara Ramos, Frances Moses, and Shayna Baker for all they did to care for him.

A graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Ron Davis officiating.

Memorials may be made to Sumter Bible Church, 420 South Pike West, Sumter, SC 29150.
