Katherine V. Herring, 82, wife of Charlie E. Herring, died Sunday, February 12, 2023, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
Born February 29, 1940, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Charles T. Boyce and the late Victoria Revill Boyce. She was a member of Sumter Baptist Temple and retired from the Sumter County Treasurer’s Office after 25 years of service.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years; two children, Donna L. Dunaway (Bobby) of White House, TN and Kimberly A. McDuffie (Robert B. Jr.) of Sumter; grandchildren, Christopher Dunaway (Kristin), Kelley Jones (Joshua), Joseph E. Kinlaw, Portia A. MacDonald (Andrew), and Jamison B. Schwartz; great-grandchildren, Logan M. Dunaway, Willow L. Jones, Ethan C. Dunaway, Aiden C. Dunaway, Braden A. Jones, and Esmeralda J. MacDonald; and two sisters, Charlene Ogle (Glen) of Sumter and Elaine Strickland (James) of Cayce.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Charlette Herring; and a sister, Tami J. Harvey.
A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Mike Westmoreland officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M. Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
