Obituary for Francis Joseph "Buddy" Baker
Francis Joseph “Buddy” Baker, 74, widower of Barbara Harris Baker, died Monday, January 30, 2023, at Prisma Health Tuomey.
Born December 24, 1948, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Alpheus Joseph Baker and the late Annie Lee Coulter Baker. Buddy retired from Sumter County EMS and from Trailor Bridge.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy “Sissy” Lambert (Richard) of Sumter; six grandchildren, Ashley O’Tuel (R.W.), Richard Lambert, Jr., Joseph Smith (Brittany), Miranda Lambert, Anthony “A.J.” Smith, and Pamela Erin Baker; three great-grandchildren, Hailey Ann Smith, Diesel Burrell, and Barrett Lambert a sister, Juanita Davis (Junior) of Sumter; a brother, Jimmy Baker (Donna) of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Francis Joseph “Joey” Baker, Jr.; brothers, Wilbur Baker, Dallas Baker, Sr., and Jack Baker; and sisters, Helen Hodge, Lois Rogers, Mary Louise Clark, and Annette Sigmon.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Morris officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter.
