Obituary for Sarah Troutman Shipley
Sarah Troutman Shipley, 86, widow of George Walton Shipley, died Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at NHC Healthcare.
Born August 19, 1936, in Calhoun County, she was a daughter of the late Shelley Troutman and the late Nellie Cherry Troutman. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church for 25 years. She only had a sixth-grade education so she could work on the farm with her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a son, Phillip Harris Shipley (Penny) and a granddaughter, Micki Carolyn Shipley.
She was preceded in death by a son, Roger Keith Shipley; three sisters; and three brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Monday at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bill Lyons, Dwight Mixon, Jimmy Saunders, Gary Franklin, Tommy Brown, and Steve Till.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Monday at Southside Baptist Church.
