Obituary for John James Powell
John James Powell, 75, widower of Katherine Benenhaley Powell, died Monday, December 26, 2022, at his home.
Born February 24, 1947, in Johnsonville, he was the son of the late Fletcher Powell and the late Annie Sue Glisson Powell. He retired from Campbell Soup Company after 32 years of service and Glasscock Trucking Company after 10 years of service. He attended Springbank Baptist Church.
Survivors include four children, Darine Powell (Jennifer) of Andrews, Dwayne Benenhaley of Sumter, Susan Louise Williams of Sumter, and Robert Shane Powell of Greeleyville; two grandchildren, Laura Lozano and Brittany Lazano; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. Monday in the Springbank Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Steve Miller officiating.
Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
