Obituary for Agnes Andora Amerson (Jordan)

Our precious mother, Agnes Andora Jordan Amerson, 91, sadly departed this life on December 24, 2022, at her home.

Born October 7, 1931, she was a daughter of the late James Wade Jordan and the late Annie Watford Jordan. She was a wonderful, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was always there when we needed her. She also had many friends and was a well-loved member of Eastside Baptist Church for over 60 years. Above all things, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and she loved her family unconditionally. She knew no stranger and lovingly addressed everyone with a “Hey Bo”. Agnes retired from Campbell Soup Company and Korn Industries. Her passion was tending to her flowers, gardening, and cooking.

Survivors include three children, Cindy Lynch (Alan), Vicky Price (Jay), and Ricky Amerson (Annette); eight grandchildren, Bobbi Hearrell, Anthony Amerson, Nikki Follin, Samantha Amerson, Amber Hayden, Austin Amerson, Swade Amerson, and Dalton Amerson; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis Jordan; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Amerson; a son, James A. “Andy” Amerson; a great-grandson, Caleb Jade Browder; four brothers, Pee Wee Jordan, Elbert Jordan, Sydney Jordan, and Pete Jordan; and a sister, Louise Branham.

A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday at Eastside Baptist Church with the Rev. Pete Mixon officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be C.J. Hearrell, Austin Amerson, Jayson Price, Dalton Amerson, Jamie Newman, Billy Jordan, and Swade Amerson.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home 650 Mallard Drive.

Memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church, 701 Boulevard Rd., Sumter, SC 29153.

The family would like to thank the staff of Amedisys Home Health and Hospice and extended family, Lisa Bryant and Allison Parker for their loving and compassionate care.
