Obituary for John Anthony "Tony" Finotti

John Anthony “Tony” Finotti, Sr., 87, husband of Betty Jean Livingston Finotti, died Monday, December 19, 2022, at his home.

Born October 16, 1935, in Washington, D.C., he was a son of the late James Gustavo Finotti and the late Mary Simpson Finotti. Tony was a born again Christian and member of Sumter Baptist Temple. He loved listening to his Sumter Baptist Temple supported WSSC Radio where he could listen to gospel music and hear the Sunday worship services broadcast. He served twenty years in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Following his military service, he worked with the Tamper Corporation and retired after twenty-four years of service.

Survivors in addition to his wife of sixty-four years, include one daughter, Teresa Byrd (Mark); a daughter-in-law, Vicki Finotti; six grandchildren, Nicholas Finotti (Allie), Christina Newman (Jamie), Brandon Finotti (Audrey), Brittni Finotti (fiancé, James Piselli), Amber Gerbode, and Brad Byrd (Shannon); twelve great grandchildren; one sister, Linda Bowman; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel officiated by the Rev. Mike Westmoreland and the Rev. Steve Livingston. Burial with full military honors will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
