Obituary for Evelyn Geddings Brown
Evelyn Geddings Brown, 83, widow of Raymond R. Brown, died Friday, December 16, 2022, at her home.
Born June 7, 1939, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Ashley Geddings and the late Alice Ardis Geddings. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and retired from Sumter School District 2.
Survivors include two daughters, Dinah B. Swygert (Hans) and Donna B. Bilton (James) all of Sumter; four grandchildren, Heather McCullum, Austin Pollard (Kristin), Makayla Swygert, and Joshua Pollard; a great-grandson, Hawkens Rutledge Pollard; a son-in-law, Michael Pollard of Manning; siblings, Carol Hodge (Jimmy) of Sumter, Calvin Geddings (Pat) of Sumter, and A.L. Geddings (Louise) of Columbia; and a special friend and caregiver, Lillian Garner of Sumter.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dana B. Pollard.
A funeral service will be held at 3 P.M. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Moore officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Austin Pollard, Joshua Pollard, Derek Geddings, Jamie Geddings, Andy Hodge, and Keven Hodge.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 P.M. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church and other times at the home.
