Obituary for Erma Louise Welch (Johnson)
Erma Louise Welch, 82, died Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Prisma Health Tuomey.
Born in Johnsonville, she was a daughter of the late Jeff Johnson and the late Sarah Dallas Johnson. Mrs. Welch was a member of The Salvation Army Church. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
Survivors include four children, Willie L. Welch, Jr. (Barbara Ann), Sammy Welch, Bessie Welch Brown, and Charlene Canady (Harry); ten grandchildren, Bobby Hatchell, Timothy Welch (Virginia), Jessica Welch, Chiffon D Veney (Paul), Matthew Welch, Crystal Santana (Ricky), Robin Bowman (Bryan), Ray Brown, Jessica Johnson (Robert), and Barry Canady; sixteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; five sisters, Myrtle Britt, Deane Batten, Brenda Griffis, Sara Hardee, and Kathleen Britt; one brother, Larry Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Willie Layton Welch, Sr.; a son, Jeffrey Allen Welch; three brothers, Arthur Johnson, Pat Johnson, and Levon Johnson; and two sisters, Barbara Jean Johnson, and Betty Ratley.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roy Bowman officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery in Turbeville.
Pallbearers will be Robert Barfield, Joseph Logan, Roscoe Anderson, Bubba Lee, George Stinney, and Patrick Reames.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 4360 Starks Ferry Road.
