Obituary for Martha Joyce Allen (Garrett)
Martha Joyce Garrett Allen, 90, widow of James Carol Allen, died Saturday, October 22, 2022, at NHC Healthcare.
Born September 20, 1932, in Simpsonville, she was a daughter of the late Dee Garrett and the late Hattie Stone Garrett. She was a graduate of Tuomey School of Nursing and was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She retired from the practice of Dr. Charles Andrews. She was a member of Bible Fellowship Church.
Survivors include three sons, James Michael Allen, Sr., Garry Van Allen, and Mark Allen (Kathy) all of Sumter; four grandchildren, James “Jay” Michael Allen, Jr. (Krissy), Ryan Allen, Christopher Allen, and Kathryn Allen Wilkie (Nathan); five great-grandchildren, Abigail Allen, Karsyn Allen, Carson Allen, Theo Allen, and Kate Wilkie; two sisters-in-law, Willie Garrett of Powdersville and Jennie Garret of Wilmington, NC; and a brother-in-law, Bill Wylie of Mauldin.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Azalee Boyd, Russell Garrett, Marguerite Livingston, Doris Pollard, Marian Couch, Peggy Wylie, and Frank Garrett.
A graveside service will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday in the Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Keaton officiating.
Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
