Obituary for Dorine J. Warth (Jones)

Dorine Warth went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday October 18, 2022.

Funeral services for Mrs. Warth, 94, will be held at 12 P.M. Friday, October 21, 2022, in the Chapel at Elmore Cannon Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Allen Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, Sumter, SC.

The family will receive friends before the funeral from 11A.M. to 12 P.M. at the Funeral Home, 515 Miller Rd, Sumter, S.C. 29150.

Dorine was born in Sumter, S.C. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Charles Thomas Warth, her parents, Lonnie and Earline Brown Jones, Grandson, Michael Evans Ross, 5 sisters, 5 brothers and one brother-in-law.

She had a passion for teaching, loved caring for children and helping families in need. This passion led her to open one of the first Childcare centers in the late 1950’s. Later in her life, with the help of her children, she opened a second childcare center, “Warth Childcare and Development Center”. Aunt Dorine, as she was affectionately known, worked tirelessly for more than 50 years before passing the baton to her granddaughter, Zanne Morris.
Dorine was a member of Santee Baptist, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed traveling and spending time at her mountain and beach homes. Her happy place was “Santee”, where most days you could find her working in her yard and enjoying her family!
During her life, she lived through two World Wars, numerous conflicts, the Great Depression and 41 presidents.
She is survived by her 4 daughters: Dianne Kennedy, Cathy Ross (Ned), Susan Sharpe (Buddy), Gwen Fraiser (Gerald), Sister-in-Law, Sandi Warth, 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for the funeral are: John Kennedy Sr., Benjamin Kennedy, John Kennedy Jr., Chris Latucca, Gregory Morris, and Riley Overstreet,
