Obituary for Robert B. "Bobby" Watts Jr.

Robert B. “Bobby” Watts, Jr. 69, entered his eternal rest in the presence of his loving son Saturday, October 15, 2022, at his “Heaven on Earth”, “In the “woods” at his beloved Sportsman Hunting Club.

Bobby was born June 27, 1953, in Sumter County, and was the son of the late Robert B. Watts, Sr. and the late Louise Prescott Watts. Bobby worked with C.N.A. Construction where he excelled in his field for many years.

Bobby’s life was forever changed in 1983 when he welcomed his daughter April into the world. There was never a doubt of his love for her and her family. In 1986 his namesake, “Robbie” was welcomed and was certainly sent to Bobby straight from Heaven. Just when one may believe his pride could beam no greater, his grandchildren were born. From that moment, his life was fulfilled.

His most cherished time was spent with his family, and the comradery at his favorite spot, The Sportsman Hunting Club. His family will be forever thankful for their support through Bobby’s illness. In addition, the family extends appreciation for the kindness and care of Amedisys Hospice of Sumter.

Bobby is survived by his son, Robert B. “Robbie” Watts, III (Michelle), daughter, April M. Allen (Robert), and grandchildren, Robbie Watts, Mollie Watts, and Hunter Allen all of Sumter; three sisters, Carolyn Faye Watts Newman (Jimmy), and Sylvia Elaine Watts Hanish (David) both of Sumter, and Barbara Lynn Watts Jordan (Brad) of Lexington; and his beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by a sister, Jacqueline Louise Watts.

A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Brunson Cemetery on Plowden Mill Road officiated by the Rev. Mel Thompson and Mr. Matt Chapman officiating

Lovingly chosen pallbearers are Corey Prescott, Ryan Marsh, Jason Sutton, Xander Compton, Bert Watts, and Luke Stokes. Members of the Sportsman Hunting Club will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son, 1245 Boots Branch Road, Sumter.

Memorials may be sent to the Carolina Sporting Dog Association, 3847 Major Evans Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
