Obituary for Margaret Evans Welch
Margaret Evans Welch, 70, wife of the late Alton Ray “Al” Welch, Sr., died Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Prisma Health Richland.
Born May 3, 1952, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late James Oscar Evans and the late Bertha Scott Evans. She was medically retired from Bosch Braking System of Sumter.
Survivors include a daughter, Michelle Ann Welch of Sumter; a son, Alton Ray Welch, Jr. of Sumter; three grandchildren, Shamone Garcia of Columbia, Chelsea Welch and Cody Welch both of Belton; a sister, Mary Ann Snipes (Jim) of Charleston; sisters-in-law, Sarah Evans of Sumter, Patricia Evans of Moncks Corner, Jackie Lee of Effingham, Ruby Evans of Lake City, and Buena Lea of Jordan; brothers-in-law, Randall Welch (Shirley) of Sumter and Roger Welch of Myrtle Beach; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends; and a special caregiver and friend, Lisa Cox.
A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Monday at Green Acres Assembly of God with the Rev. Michael Bowman officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Monday at Green Acres Assembly of God and other times at the home, 1304 Fairlawn Dr., Sumter.
