Obituary for Cynthia Cubbage Owens
Cynthia Cubbage Owens, 70, widow of Wayne D. Owens, Sr., died Monday, September 5, 2022, at Prisma Health Tuomey.
Born April 6, 1952, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Rudolph Cubbage and the late Jewel Edens Cubbage. She retired from the Sumter County Department of Social Services. Cynthia was born into a close-knit family and community. She grew in the love and grace of the Lord and served him with her whole heart and witnessed for Him by word and example. She was committed to her church Destiny Praise Center and served it faithfully. She dearly loved her late husband, Wayne as her years with him were some of the happiest times of her life. She was a devoted mother and doted on her grandchildren. Her family was her earthly joy. Few knew of the physical suffering she endured because throughout it all, she found her strength in God and His word.
Survivors include two children, Megan Ross (Edward) and Wayne D. Owens, II (Daphne); son-in-law, Ricky Creech; grandchildren, Skylar, Jayden, Bryson, Lynndon, Hailey, Tylan, and Cole; great-grandson, Jasiah; and siblings, Al Cubbage (Gwen), Stella McCoy (Billy), Randy Cubbage (Brenda), and Ellen Neale (Mike).
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Creech.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church at Oswego with the Rev. Tim Whited officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church and other times at the home of Stella and Billy McCoy, 3250 Leonard Brown Rd.
