Obituary for Raymond Dean Hughes Sr.
Raymond Dean Hughes, Sr., 60, died Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at his home.
Born November 14, 1961, in Sumter, he was a son of William F. Hughes and Dorothy Ruth Barkley Hughes. Mr. Hughes was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He enjoyed working on old cars, drag racing and spending time with his sons and grandchildren.
Survivors, in addition to his mother of Sumter, include three sons, Raymond D. Hughes, Jr. of Manning, Justin T. Hughes of California, and Aaron M. Hughes (Ruby) of Sumter; two grandchildren, Sawyer Hughes and Thomas Hughes; two brothers, Wayne Hughes (Janice) and Mark Hughes (Tracy) both of Manning; a sister, Patricia Anderson (Michael) of Sumter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bobby Joe Hughes, William R. Hughes, and Jimmy F. Hughes.
A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Kenny Griffin and the Rev. Roy Bowman.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
