Obituary for William French "Bill" Hunt
William French Hunt, 77, husband of Patricia Ann Fidler Hunt, died Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at his home.
Born June 7, 1945, in Morgantown, WV and raised in the Fort Martin community, he was a son of the late Lemuel French Hunt and the late Lillie Belle McClosky Hunt. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 27 years of service with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Following his retirement from the Air Force he worked in the heating and air business and later for Palmetto Gas Company.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years; three children, William Hunt, John Hunt, and Michael Hunt and their spouses; several grandchildren and their spouses; several great-grandchildren; and siblings, Lemuel Hunt (Julia), Susan Lorraine Petsko (William), and Marleen Hunt.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fort Martin Methodist Church, 1876 Fort Martin Rd., Maidsville, WV 26541.
Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
