Obituary for Claire G. Brown (Graham)

Claire Graham Brown, 99, widow of Thomas F. Brown, died Thursday, May 19, 2022, at NHC Healthcare.

Born September 19, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Wesley Snyder Graham and the late Ada Childers Graham. She was a member of St. John United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was a past member of the Garris McCoy Sunday School Class and the Joy Circle. She also sang with the St. John’s Seniors going to nursing homes singing hymns and patriotic songs. She was a buyer for Brody Brothers, Inc. for over 30 years with the Capital Department Store and Brody’s.

Survivors include four children, Bettie Taylor of West Columbia, Michael T. Brown (Maryanne) and Stanley D. Brown (Martha) both of Sumter, and Ronald G. Brown (Carol) of Ogden, UT; ten grandchildren, Chris Taylor, Beth Taylor, Brian Taylor, Thomas R. Brown, Michael Brown (Julie), Tommy Brown, Jeremy Brown, Jason Brown (Kelly), Patrick Brown, and Katie B. Wise. She also leaves behind eight beautiful great-grandchildren whom she adored with all her heart. She is also survived by three sisters, Gertrude Gardner of New Zion, Olive Weeks of West Palm Beach, FL, and Joanne Poe of Camden.

In addition to her parents and husband of 37 years, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Zackary Brown; and brothers, Wesley Graham, Jr. and John A. Graham.

A graveside service will be held at 11 A.M. Monday in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
