Obituary for James Timothy Gaymon

James Timothy Gaymon, 81, husband of Jo Fiddler Gaymon, died Saturday, May 14, 2022, at NHC Healthcare of Sumter.

Born January 19, 1941, in Florence County, he was a son of the late Archie J. Gaymon and the late Alma Hatchell Gaymon. Mr. Gaymon worked with Boyle Motor Co. for more than 35 years and later retired from Jones Chevrolet-Cadillac in 2017. He was a Mason and Shriner, and an active member of the Sumter Shag Club.

Survivors in addition to his wife of Sumter, include five children, Hugh Gaymon (Susan) of Sumter, Tica Bollinger of Charleston, Shane Gaymon (Ginna) of Sumter, Tasha Acosta (Rudy) of Japan, and Christopher Gaymon (Veronica) of Sumter; two stepsons, John Janes (Carro) of Anchorage, Alaska, and Jay Janes of Atlanta; eight grandchildren, Laurin G. Lee (Tripper), Timothy Gaymon (Anna), Wells Gaymon, Shane Gaymon, Jr., Bailey Gaymon, Lane Bollinger, Kalina Acosta, and Olin Gaymon; two great grandchildren, Lainey Lee, and Cooper Lee; one brother, Harry L. Gaymon of Sumter; one sister, Claudette G. Jackson of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel officiated by the Rev. Greg Pressley.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Laurin, Maebelle, Crystal, Willene and the other staff members of NHC Healthcare of Sumter for the dedicated and compassionate care they provided.
