Obituary for Stella Boykin Peeples

Stella Boykin Peeples, 72, died Sunday, May 8, 2022, at Ridgeway Manor in Ridgeway, SC.

Born July 5, 1949, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Horace Hosea Boykin and the late Tuster Ola Brown Boykin. She retired as a counselor for Sumter County Behavioral Health.

She is survived by two sons, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) John Peeples, Jr. (Kimberly) and Stephen Peeples (Jennifer); grandchildren, Amanda, Abigail, Zachary, Vanderbilt, and Emma Cate Peeples; and a brother, Calvin Boykin (Ann).

She was preceded in death by siblings, Horace Boykin, Carolyn Hagen, and Stephen Boykin.

Stella traveled the world early in her life and was very proud of her time supporting the military. She was organized, caring, and fun. She loved playing practical jokes, laughing, dancing, and helping others. A fierce competitor, Stella enjoyed playing games, and in recent years was a several time champion in her Fantasy Football leagues. A beloved Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmama, and Friend, Stella loved others and God deeply. Her family was her life, and she enjoyed spending time on her back porch watching butterflies and nature.

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, May 14, 2022, in the Elmore- Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. to 12 Noon Saturday at Elmore-Cannon- Stephens Funeral Home.
