Rev. Jay D. Wilson, 85, widower of Janet Draine Wilson, was promoted to Glory on April 26, 2022, at the home of his daughter and son-in law.
Born April 13, 1937, in Roan Mountain, TN, he was a son of the late Jack Wilson and the late Lucy Owens Wilson. He pastored for over 50 years in Western NC, East TN, and Central TN.
Survivors include a daughter, Angela Miller (Keith) of Sumter; a daughter-in-law, Wynndy Wilson of Murfreesboro, TN; four grandchildren, Maria, Heather, Cody, and Joshua; seven great grandchildren, Jordan, Macey, Deacon, Jack David, Miller, Maddox, and Cooper; two brothers, Paul Wilson (Gail) of Piney Falls, TN, and Benny Wilson (Linda) of Newbern, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Keeven Wilson.
A promotion to glory service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Elmore- Cannon Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. David Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. (Noon) to 1 p.m. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter and son-in-law.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Jennifer McFadden, at the VA outpatient clinic, and Amedisys Hospice of Sumter for the compassionate care they provided. They all were such a blessing during our time of need.
