Obituary for Betty Carolyn "Ms. Betty" Dyson (Geddings)
Betty Carolyn Geddings Dyson, 83, wife of Robert Dyson, died Monday, January 10, 2022, at her home.
Born February 1, 1938, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Early Geddings and the late Rosa G. Geddings. Mrs. Dyson was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She retired from Jones Chevrolet after 53 years of service. “Ms. Betty”, as she was affectionately known, began her career with the dealership when it was Courtright Chevrolet, and later became Love Chevrolet.
Survivors in addition to her husband of 58 years include one daughter, Kay Ward (Johnny) of Sumter; two grandsons, Aaron Ward, and Andrew Ward; a grand-fur baby, Sugarland; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six siblings.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Hendricks officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Ward, Aaron Ward, Andrew Ward, Glenn Geddings, Matt Driggers, and Morgan Ward.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
