Obituary for Larry "Joe" Kirby

Larry “Joe” Kirby, 72, loving husband of Patricia Powell “Pat” Kirby, died Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey.

Born October 20, 1949, in Union, SC, he was the son of the late William Woodrow Kirby and the late Lynette May Kirby. He attended Bethesda Church of God. Some of his favorite pastimes were watching wrestling matches, especially with his nephew and sidekick Cody, watching the Atlanta Braves baseball team, and spending time with his grandchildren who were the light of his life.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years and ten months; two children, Sarah Wilkes (Trent) of Rembert and Aaron Feldman (Rebecca) of Sumter; five grandchildren, Tal Wilkes, Logan Wilkes, and Myers Wilkes all of Rembert, and Jacob Feldman and Joshua Feldman both of Sumter; two brothers, Robert Kirby (Janice) of Union, SC and Jerry Kirby (Janice) of Stapleton, NE; a sister, Lisa Teague (Terry Hodge) of Lexington, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by siblings, James “Jimmy” Kirby, William Woodrow “Junior” Kirby, and Darlene Cheatham; a nephew, Robert Kirby; and a niece, Hannah Teague.

A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Bethesda Church of God with the Rev. H. Albert Sims and the Rev. Buddy Griffith officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Wednesday at Bethesda Church of God and other times at the home of his son, Aaron, 240 Keels Rd., Sumter. The family requests all visitors follow recommended COVID-19 guidelines.
