Obituary for James Dwight Lewis

James Dwight Lewis, 68, husband of Peggy Atkinson Lewis, died Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Prisma Health Richland in Columbia.

Born June 6, 1953, in Sumter, he was a son of the late William Morgan Lewis, Sr. and the late Marjorie Loye Strange Lewis. He retired from Sumter Machinery. He loved to hunt and fish.

Survivors include his wife; children, Joshua Lewis, Sherry Walker (Mike), James Lawrence (Kristen), and Brady Lambert (Lasonja); grandchildren, Michael Rivers (Aubrey), Candace Peterson (Hunter), Aaron Walker, Lorena Alvarez, Logan Lawrence, Tyler Anderson, William Lawrence, Eleanor Lawrence, Geno Anaya, Jimmy Shumaker, Grace Tibor, Jo Tibor, Claire Tibor, Kenota Lambert (Sara), Brandon Lambert (Dextevia), Cody Lambert, and Shania Ramsey (Andreus); 13 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Rev. Billy M. Lewis (Dianne), Brenda Lewis Osteen, Rev. Steven K. Lewis (Linda), and Gary A. Lewis (Renee); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher Lewis.

A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. Monday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Morris officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Monday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Sherry and Mike Walker, 733 Reynolds Rd., Sumter, SC 29150.
