George D. Vining, 90, husband of the late Alice Geneva Burke Vining, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021, at Veteran’s Victory House in Walterboro.

Born December 16, 1930, in Columbia, he was a son of the late James Walter Vining and the late Mattie Blume Vining. He was a member of Open Bible Baptist Church and retired from Suburban Propane Gas Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include three children, Wanda V. Berry (Gary), George Matt Vining (Lynn), and Mark D. Vining (Sandra) all of Sumter; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Kathleen Winburn of Hartsville and Frances Lovelace of Sumter.

He was preceded in death by ten siblings.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 3 P.M. Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with Evangelist Gary A. Berry, Jr., Pastor Brian Magaw, and Pastor Joey Durham officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 P.M. Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
