Obituary for Robert Wilbur Hawkins

Robert Wilbur Hawkins, 96, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2021, at The Gardens of Sumter.

Born February 7, 1925, at Pisgah Crossroads, to the late Samuel Wilson Hawkins and the late Lula Baker Hawkins, he grew up in Ashwood. A firm believer in the New Testament church and ministry, he opened his home for Sunday morning meetings for over fifty years, to likeminded Christians. (Ref. Philemon 1:1,2).

He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife of 66 years, Sue P. Hawkins.

Wilbur is survived by two brothers, Aubrey (Grace), and Tommy (Martha); and a sister, Anna Jackson (Harold, deceased). Also surviving are two sons, Cecil (Dot) of Greenville, SC and David (Evy) of Sumter; as well as five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Lamar Cemetery in Lamar.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
