Obituary for Nancy Capell Amerson
Nancy Capell Amerson, 94, widow of Marion S. Amerson, Sr., passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at her home.
Born March 23, 1927, in the Red Hill community of Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Johnnie Capell and the late Letha Williams Capell. She was a member of Sumter First Church of God. She retired from A & P Grocery Store and Littles Personal Cleaners.
Survivors include three children, Marion S. Amerson, Jr. (Deborah) of Florence, Sandra A. Davis of Sumter, and Johnnie Russell Amerson (Margie) of Cameron; nine grandchildren, Susan Amerson (David), Joey Amerson (Leslie), Todd Davis (Mary Elizabeth), Kim Posey (Patrick), Chad Davis (Sonya), Brian Russell Amerson (Meagan), Michelle Renee Amerson (T.J. Hutson), Tanya Frierson (Jason), and Gerald Green; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Capell (Margaret Ann) of Lugoff; and a sister, Sue Garvin (George) of Georgetown.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Capell; two sisters, Mary Catherine Myers and June Mathis; and a son-in-law, Ronnie Davis.
A funeral service will be held at 3 P.M. Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ron Bower officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 P.M. Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
