Obituary for Stella Weeks Goodson
Stella Weeks Goodson, widow of William “Billy” Goodson passed away peacefully on Friday, April 30, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey.
Born November 17, 1933, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Ernest McCray Weeks, Sr. and the late Iomey Sylvester Weeks, and her stepmother, the late Helen Weeks. Mrs. Goodson was a graduate of Edmunds High School and Winthrop University. She was an avid pianist. She played for Aldersgate Church, where she was founding member, the Santee Summer Ministry, and other venues.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Ernest M. Weeks, Jr. and stepbrother, Glenn Coker.
She is survived by her sons, William “Max” Goodson (Anne) and Kirk Goodson (Danita), four grandchildren, Adam Goodson (Molly), Mary Elizabeth Morton (Robbie), Abby Wenzel (Ryan), and Hunter Goodson; and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Rae Weeks, two stepsisters, Gloria Coker and Rae McWhirter (Tom); and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the parlor of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Burial will be private.
