Obituary for Charles William Campbell

Charles William Campbell, 81, widower of Betty Selph Campbell, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 16, 2021 surrounded by his family.

Born June 4, 1939, he was a son of the late Hollie Edward Campbell and the late Hallie Elizabeth Hill Campbell. Mr. Campbell was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses North Congregation. He owned and operated A-Z Landscaping and Lawn Care and later retired from Sumter School District #17. Mr. Campbell earned a position on the Sumter P-15’s baseball team at the age of 14. He loved to play the game of baseball as a youngster and remained an avid fan throughout his entire life. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include three children, Steve Campbell (Linda), Sharlene Herbert (Tim), and Mark Campbell (Tammy) all of Sumter; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Elaine Campbell; and six siblings.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with The Rev. John McLeod officiating.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
