Obituary for Alberta A. Emmer ( Drnjevic)
Alberta A. Emmer, 75, widow of William Emmer, died Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence.
Born February 4, 1945, in Wichita Falls, TX, she was a daughter of the late Albert Joseph Drnjevic and the late Clema Lucille Rexroth Drnjevic. She was a member of Dalzell Baptist Church and retired from the Department of Defense. She loved animals and was a supporter of the Humane Society. She also supported veterans associations.
Survivors include two children, Samuel Askew (Salli) of Sumter and Stacee Askew of Little Rock, AR; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jo Thames of Dalzell and Chris Stichler (Don) of Vista, CA; a number of nieces and nephews; and her special canine companion, Chaco.
A private memorial service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saving Sumter Strays, 1070 Foxridge Ct., Sumter, SC 29150.
Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
