Obituary for Margaret Ann King (Elliott)

Margaret Ann Elliott King, 85, died Sunday, January 3, 2021, at her home in Pinewood, SC in the company of loved ones.

Born February 23, 1935, in Rimini, S.C., she is the second child of three to the late Dargan P. Elliott Sr. and Margaret “Maggie“ Mason Elliott. She graduated from the University of South Carolina and then taught elementary school in Jacksonville, Florida, where she met the love of her life the late Rentz King. Rentz and Margaret spent most of their 35-year marriage in Atlanta providing a loving home for their four sons, David King of Pinewood, James “Jim” King (Laura) of Atlanta, Thomas “Tommy“ King (Erica) of Fletcher, NC, and Michael King of Pinewood. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jessie King and Jennifer King; as well as by her brother, William “Billy” Elliott (Lillian) of Irmo, SC; and her sister-in-law Dorothy “Dot“ Elliott of Pinewood.

She was preceded in death by her brother Dargan P. Elliott Jr.

Margaret was an intrepid cook and an avid reader and bridge player who generously shared the warmth, comfort and hospitality of her home with family and friends. Her memory will be cherished by all those whom she touched.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
