Obituary for Edward Russell Daniels Jr.

Edward Russell Daniels, Jr., 84, husband of Delene Svendsen Daniels, died Friday, January 1, 2021, at his home.

Born March 2, 1936, in Kingstree, SC, he was a son of the late Edward Russell Daniels, Sr. and the late Ruth Louise Mims Daniels. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and was a Korean War and Vietnam War veteran. Following his retirement from the U.S. Air Force he worked with G.E. Machines in South Africa. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Comforter and served as a lay minister in the Anglican Church while in South Africa. He was a volunteer with United Ministries for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years; a son, Edward Russell “Rusty” Daniels, III of Sumter; three grandchildren, Tiffany Daniels, Joshua Angle, and Nicole Angle; two sisters, Mildred D. Chandler of Fla. and Faye D. Bennett of N.C.; a brother, Richard R. Daniels of N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine Angle Whetstone; a brother, Delano D. Daniels; and a sister, Ruth D. Shorter.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2021 in the Church of the Holy Cross Cemetery in Stateburg with the Rev. John Sosnowski officiating.
