Obituary for Rose Grant Dennis

Rose Grant Dennis, 92, wife of the late Daniel Marion Dennis, Jr., died Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Prisma Health Tuomey.

Born August 3, 1927, in McColl, SC, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Jasper Grant and the late Maude Tripp Grant. She was a charter member of St. John United Methodist Church. She was also a retired and highly respected kindergarten teacher at Thomas Sumter Academy where her great love of children continues in the personal successes of all she taught.

Survivors include her three children, Danny Dennis (Jenny) of Sumter, Randy Dennis (Patty) of Columbia, and Roseann Dennis Jordan (Robbie) of Charleston; seven grandchildren, Denny Dennis of Dalzell, Davis Dennis (Vanessa) of Charleston, Jenny-Lee Dennis Maxwell (Matthew) of Greenville, Grady Dennis (Chris Wahlers) of Norwalk, CT, Grant Dennis (Margaret-Ann) of Asheville, NC, Waring Jordan (Rachel) of Charleston and Caroline Jordan Thomas (Chadd) of Charleston; six great-grandchildren, Drayton Maxwell, Davis Maxwell, Oliver Maxwell, Travers Dennis, Loyall Dennis, and Eva Rose Thomas; and one brother, Sam Grant (Nora) of Darlington.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Harper, Elise Johnson, and Nell Weatherly; and one brother, Carl Grant.

A celebration of her life will be held at 4 P.M. Sunday graveside in the Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Brown and the Rev. John McLeod officiating.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will not be receiving visitors.
