Obituary for Helen Drue Smith
Helen “Drue” Smith, 87, wife of Louis Smith, died Friday, June 19, 2020, at her home.
Born June 17, 1933, in Clinton, NC, she was a daughter of the late Jessie Lewis and the late Estell Sloan Lewis. She was a member of Northside Memorial Baptist Church and retired as a U.S.D.A. Inspector.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years; a daughter, Brenda Yates (Michael) of Sumter; and a granddaughter, Erin Yates of Charleston.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Thompson of Pikeville, N.C. and Irene Rumfelt of Clewiston, FL.
A graveside service will be held at 11 A.M. Monday in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to the Northside Memorial Baptist Church Caregiver’s Care Program, 1004 North Main St., Sumter, SC 29153.
