Obituary for Julia Ann Waters (Stone)

Julia Ann Stone Waters, 83, widow of Clifton Riley Waters, died Monday, May 11, 2020 at Prisma Health Tuomey with her family by her side.

Born May 16, 1936 in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Wilbur Stone and the late Cora Julia Geddings Stone. Mrs. Waters was a member of First Baptist Church of Sumter where she was in the Hope/Friendship Sunday School Class. She retired from Sumter School District 17 after more than 30 years of service. She worked at Edmunds High School and retired as Administrative Assistant to the District Superintendent. She loved spending time working in her yard.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Ann Riley Waters Parrish; her beloved grandson, Riley Neil Parrish; a brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Bessie Lou Stone; a sister-in-law, Esther Waters Ardis; brother-in-law, Ivan McLeod; several nieces and nephews; and Moose, her much loved granddog.

Mrs. Waters was preceded in death by a sister, Janie Stone McLeod.

Private graveside services will be held in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Dr. Bob Calvert and the Rev. Dr. Clay Smith.

A public memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Benevolence Fund of First Baptist Church, 107 E. Liberty St., Sumter, SC 29150.
