Obituary for John W. "Johnny" Coward
John W. “Johnny” Coward, 69, widower of Cindy J. Coward, died Wednesday, March 11, 2020.
He was the son of the late Joseph W. Coward and the late Serena Lane Coward of Lynchburg, SC. He graduated from Bishopville High School and Sumter Area Technical College. He was employed by P & R Fabrication for over 30 years. Johnny was a faithful member of New Calvary Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years. He and Cindy were very active in The Golden Age Club.
He is survived by his son, Mark Allen Coward (Kim); daughter, Lori Ann Coward; grandchildren, Christopher, Parker, and Hayden all of Sumter; sisters, Laura Burgess (Jimmy) of Kingstree and Stella Rogers (Elvin) of Sumter.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 P.M. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Eddie Richardson and the Rev. Wayland Owens officiating.
