Stephen Preston “Steve” Biering, Sr., 76, husband of the late Aletha Ruth Robinson Biering, died Saturday, February 29, 2020, at the home of his daughter, Susanna, in Columbia.

Born June 7, 1943, in Charleston, he was a son of the late Julian A. Biering, Sr. and the late Mary Jesse Biering. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Biering was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and was the owner of S.P. Biering, Inc.

Survivors include four children, Stephen P. Biering, Jr. (Tammy) of Knoxville, TN, Delores Biering Hodge (Kyle) of Smyrna, Susanna Biering (Zack) of Columbia, and Mia Traugott (Ed) of Lake Wylie; ten grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sunny Lynne Biering; a grandson, Stephen P. Biering III; a great-granddaughter, Ella Raelynne Toolen; a brother, Julian A. Biering Jr.; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Weaver.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 1 P.M. Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
