Obituary for Mychael Gene Smith Sr.

Mychael Gene Smith, Sr., 70, husband of Marilyn T. Smith, died Friday, February 28, 2020, at Regency Hospital in Florence.

Born January 17, 1950, in Branchland, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Garnett Sylvester Smith and the late Anna Laura Adkins Smith. He was retired as a co-owner of Carolina Services.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years; two sons, Mychael Gene Smith, Jr. (Jeniffer) of Summerton and Travis Wayne Smith of Sumter; nine grandchildren, Tierra Smith, Mychael Smith III (Jessica), Candace Smith (Lane), Valeria Smith, Luther Smith, Andre Smith, Anna Smith, Allen Smith, and Wyatt Smith; nine great-grandchildren, Shawn Smith, Aubrey Wallace, Nathan Cooper, Tyler Ard, Remmi Smith, Carmen Ard, Lilyan Smith, Alexander Baker, and Camellia Taylor; a sister, Debra Scott (Leo) of Sumter; and a brother, Sylvester Smith (Iris) of Sumter.

He was preceded in death by a brother, David Wayne Smith; and a grandson, David Smith.

A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday at Wedgefield Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Goff officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Craven, David Hill, Chris Crawford, and Larry Hood.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
