Obituary for Harriet Pack Hodge

The LORD called another of his angels home. Harriet Pack Hodge, 83, wife of Enos Lee Hodge, died February 24th at home, 10 Reed Street, Sumter.

Born in Sumter County, she was the daughter of the late Carl Benjamin Pack Sr. and Theresa Hodge Pack. Mrs. Hodge was a life-long member of Providence Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a true love for showing hospitality and will be remembered for her gifts of beautiful hand-made afghans and her famous lemon pound cake.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years; sister Jessie M. Tutton of Sumter; daughter, Janet Eady of Sumter; sons, Ronald L. Hodge and wife Nellie of Columbia, and Timothy G. Hodge and wife Megan of Waxhaw, NC; grandchildren, Brett and Travis Schofer, Jackson, Abigail and Caroline Hodge; and great-grandchildren Scarlett, Virginia and Jaxton.

Mrs. Hodge was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth Pack, Carl Pack Jr., Earl Pack and three sisters, Lila Mae Thames, Elizabeth Hodge, and Audrey Wadford.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Hodge, Kevin Tutton, Russ Elmore, Steven Elmore, Brett Schofer and Jackson Hodge.

Honorary Pallbearers include members of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class of Providence Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening , February 26th at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home; 515 Miller Road Sumter, SC and at other times at the home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 27th 3 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church 2445 Old Manning Road Sumter, SC. with the Rev. Leroy Burke and Rev. Pat Coffey officiating. A graveside burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Caris Hospice, At Your Home Health Service and Diary Robinson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the non-profit Cure Alzheimer’s Fund (curealz.org) in Mrs. Hodge’s memory.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
