Obituary for James R. "Red" Hodge

James R. “Red” Hodge, 79, husband of Barbara Stanfield Hodge, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.

Born August 22, 1940, in Sumter, he was a son of the late James Edward Hodge and the late Mary Caroline Askins Hodge. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and retired from Harvin Choice Meats after more than 30 years of service.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Rusty Hodge (Leslie) of Sumter, Kyle Hodge (Lorrie) of York, and Jamey Hodge (Angel) of Paxville; grandchildren, Lance, Bart, Charli, Chellsey, Tailynn, Elizabeth, and Richard; great-grandchildren, McKenlie, Samara, Kamron, Lillith, Manuel, and Maria; a brother, Robert Hodge (Beth) of West Columbia; a sister, Diane LeBleu (Tom) of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Hodge Boyce; a brother-in-law, Milton Boyce; and a special aunt, Mae Hodge.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday at Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Pat Coffey, the Rev. LeRoy Burke, and Mr. Wayne McElveen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Hodge, Kyle Hodge, Jamey Hodge, Colby Hodge, Randy Sweat, Phil Woodcock, and Brandon DuBose.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Dennis Lang, Dr. E.M. DuBose, Charles Hodge, Russ Elmore, Neil Welch, Randy Durham, Jeffrey Shuping, Tom LeBleu, Frank Earles, and Jamie Elmore.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Friday at Providence Baptist Church.
