Obituary for Bobby Hayward Grimsley

Bobby Hayward Grimsley, 84, husband of Ruth Sweatt Grimsley, died Sunday, January 05, 2020, at his home.

Born August 3, 1935, in Scranton, he was a son of the late Hayward Hershman Grimsley and the late Ann Mouzon Grimsley. He was a member of Swan Lake Presbyterian Church and retired from Farmers Telephone Cooperative after 42 years of service.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years; two sons, Bobby Hayward Grimsley, II (Jenny) and David Hershman Grimsley all of Sumter; two daughters, Renee Gray of Lexington and Regina Ann Connor (Peter) of Sumter; five grandchildren, Brandon Grimsley, Sharli Grimsley, Deanna Grimsley, Katelyn Delbocca, and Brooke Delbocca; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Samuel “Leroy” Grimsley; two sisters, Kathleen Grimsley Jones and Dorothy “Dot” Grimsley Huggins (Wayne); and a special friend of the family, Uldene Shockley.

He was preceded in death by a brother, William Henry Grimsley.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Swan Lake Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Chuck Staggs officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church following the service and other times at the family home.
