James Calvin Huggins, 73, husband of Sandy Huggins, died Monday, December 30, 2019, at Prisma Health Tuomey.
Born June 12, 1946, in Hartsville, he was a son of the late William Therrell Huggins and the late Charlotte Katherine Griggs Huggins. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Calvin was a Ford mechanic for over 30 years having worked at McLauglin Ford and Bilton Lincoln-Mercury. He attended New Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years; four children, Marion Huggins (Brenda) of Lynchburg, and Karen Anderson (Blake), Amanda Hodge (Curtis), and Kimberly Coward (Mark) all of Sumter; seven grandchildren, Brittany Lowder (Raleigh), Brent Taylor, Austin Huggins (Drue Floyd), Hayden Coward, Mason Hodge, Parker Coward, and Cade Hodge; a great-granddaughter, Laney Ann Lowder; sisters, Carolyn Norris, Veronica Huggins, and Yvonne Huggins all of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Hughes; and a brother, Renford Huggins.
A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday at the family home in Mayesville.
The family will receive friends at the home.
