Obituary for Barbara Gail Hodge
Barbara Gail Davis Hodge, 58, wife of Raymond “Ray” H. Hodge, died Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Prisma Health Richland in Columbia.
Born September 29, 1961, in Chapel Hill, NC, she was a daughter of Aloma Jean Harrelson Gainey, and the late Norman Earl Davis. Mrs. Hodge was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and also loved caring for animals.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 39 years; one son, Michael Hodge of Sumter; one brother, Norman Paul Davis, Sr. (Patricia Diane) of Sumter; one step-brother, Harvey Gainey, Jr. (Frances of Sumter; three sisters-in-law; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Harold Greene, the Rev. Pat Coffey, and Mr. Wayne McElveen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lavon McCormic, John Ray Hicks, Jay Hodge, Tommy Evans, Richie McCormick, and Paul Davis, Jr.
Honorary pallbearer will be Harvey Gainey, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of her sister-in-law, 501 Geddings Road.
