Obituary for Muriel Porter Pridgen

Muriel Porter Pridgen, 72, wife of Donnie Lee Pridgen, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2019 at Prisma Health Tuomey.

Born April 4, 1947, in Marion County, she was the daughter of the late Luther Victor Porter and the late Mary Jackson Porter. She was a member of Christian Tabernacle Church. Mrs. Pridgen was employed at Walmart, as a personnel manager for 19 years.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include one son, Timothy Pridgen (Renee) of Greenwood; two grandchildren, Chase Pridgen (Ashley), and Drew Pridgen; two sisters, twin sister Murilene Caulder of Marion, and Mildred Gowdy of Sumter; three sisters-in-law, Kaye Porter and Faye Porter both of Marion, and Virginia Porter of NC; and one brother-in-law, Lonnie Cox of Sumter.

She was preceded in death by a son, Philip Pridgen; seven brothers, Linwood Porter, Heyward Porter, Norman Porter, Horace Porter, Luther Porter, Hubert Porter, and Elliott Porter; and one sister, Mary Cox.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Porter and the Rev. Phillip Watry officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Florence National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 7 Glenwood Drive, Sumter, SC 29153.
