Obituary for Gail L Welch
Gail L. Welch, 83, widow of Harold C. Welch, died Wednesday, September 04, 2019, at NHC Healthcare.
Born August 12, 1936, in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late John T. Lemmon and the late Gladys Evelyn Thomas Lemmon. She was a member of Jefferson Road Freewill Baptist Church and retired from the Sumter School District after 21 years of service.
Survivors include three children, John L. Welch of Sumter, Brenda G. Wroe (Steven) of Dalzell, and Michael A. Welch (Lorrie) of Texas; 14 grandchildren, Jason, Melissa, Brittany, John, Sarah, Mitchell, Casey, Bethany, Kayla, Tyler, Brooke, Savannah, Missy, and Bobby; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sandra Cain and Linda Kennison both of Columbia.
She was preceded in death by a son, David H. Welch; a daughter, Sarah Louise Pope; and a brother, Buddy Lemmon.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday at Jefferson Road Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Gilbert and the Rev. Rusty Conyers officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Friday at Jefferson Road Freewill Baptist Church and other times at the home of her son, John, 2080 Peach Orchard Rd.
