Obituary for Laura Virginia Benenhaley

Laura Virginia Benenhaley, 90, widow of Leland A. Benenhaley, Sr., died Monday, September 2, 2019 at Blue Ridge of Sumter.

Born February 20, 1929, in Dalzell, she was a daughter of the late Enoch Benenhaley and the late Laura Agnes Benenhaley. Mrs. Benenhaley was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir for many years.

Survivors include five children, Leland Benenhaley, Jr. of Sumter, James “Bub” Benenhaley of Sumter, Al Benenhaley (Linda) of Dalzell, Laura Floyd (Joey) of Sumter, and Robert “Robbie” Benenhaley (Amber) of Sumter; six grandchildren, Cody Floyd, Alex Floyd, Ashley Benenhaley, Robbie Odom, Becky Odom and Sheryl Geddings; ten great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angie Hough; four brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Long Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Jonathan Bradshaw and the Rev. Stephen Sanderson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 645 E. Brewington Road.
