Obituary for Charles E. "Chuck" Hembree
Charles E. “Chuck” Hembree, 84, widower of Marjorie Ellen Simpson Hembree, died Saturday, August 3, 2019, at his home.
Born November 10, 1934, in Lenoir, NC, he was a son of the late Theodore Hembree and the late Margaret Fink Hembree Sides. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service and was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a longtime member of Christian Tabernacle Church where he served as an Elder and a Deacon.
Survivors include a son, Mark Hembree (Nancy) of Williamsport, PA; two daughters, Marcia McCammon (Patrick) and Robin Wells (Charles) both of Sumter; four grandchildren, Erin McLeod, Dawn Finkbeiner, Seth Hembree, and Owen Hembree; a great-grandchild, Landon McLeod; and two sisters, Rebecca Lowery of NC and Patricia Ippolito (Tony) of NY.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua McCammon; a sister, June “Daisy” Russell; and brothers, Hubert Hembree, Patrick Sides, and Gary Sides.
Funeral services will be held at 4 P.M. Wednesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tony Porter officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 P.M. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
