Dr. James E. Privett, 88, died Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at his home.
Born November 7, 1938, in Indianapolis, IN, he was a son of the late Claude Franklin Privett and the late Nellie Louise Dickerson Privett. He retired from USC-Sumter where he was a professor of Chemistry, Physics, and Statistics. He was a member of the American Chemical Society.
Survivors include five children, Dominique Privett (Connie) of IA, Shirley Privett of IA, John Privett of Sumter, Juliana Touihri (Mongi) of North Charleston, and James Privett of Bishopville; and a grandson, Michael Touihri.
A memorial gathering will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday in the Nettles Auditorium at USC-Sumter.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 P.M. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
