Obituary for Henry Calvin "Son" Floyd

Henry Calvin “Son” Floyd, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston.

He was born in Williamsburg County on December 23, 1933. He was the son of the late Woodrow Coker and the late Perlie Coker. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Sara J. Floyd; four children, Debbie Pack (Lee) of Sumter, David Floyd (Luisa) of East Norristown, PA, Lisa Kinlaw (John) of Goose Creek, and Steve Floyd (Melodie) of Sumter; eight grandchildren, Lee “Bubba” Pack, IV (Amanda) of Sumter, John Kinlaw (Mandy) of Goose Creek, Kelly Floyd (Libby) of Norristown, PA, Lisa Marie Kinlaw (Adam Upton) of Columbia, Jennyfer Floyd (Josh Fry) of Hatfield, PA, Erica Floyd (Matt Faust) of Schwenksville, PA, Kayla Hardee (Clayton) of Wedgefield, and Hannah Floyd of Sumter; great-grandchildren, Austin Pack, Lauren Pack, Madilyn Kinlaw, Molly Kinlaw, Koa Floyd, Hunter Floyd, and Colton Upton; brothers, Woodrow J. “W.J.” Coker (Christine) and Henry Eldridge “H.E” Floyd (Diane); and sisters, Beulah Mae Fulton, Janice Lee, Evelyn Brinson, and Cleo Gainey.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Eldridge Floyd; and a sister, Jackie Dowles.

A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. Monday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Baughn and the Rev. George Smith officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Sumter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 P.M. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
