Obituary for Lee Donald Fifield

Lee Donald Fifield, 87, widower of June LaFaye Melton Fifield and Betty Sue Melton Fifield, died Thursday, July 4, 2019, at Prisma Health Richland.

Born April 17, 1932, in San Diego, California, he was the son of the late Howard Fifield and the late Marie Sample Fifield. Mr. Fifield was raised by his grandmother, the late Annabelle Sample. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 27, years of service and was a veteran of the Korean War, Vietnam War, and Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member of VFW Post 3181 and the Sumter DAV. He also retired from Exide Battery.

Survivors include two daughters, Patty Fifield and Connie Fifield both of Orlando, FL; a step-daughter, Lorene H. Nelson of Dalzell; three grandchildren, Jacob Zinicola, Andrew Zinicola, and Joanna Gregory; two step-grandchildren, Al Nelson and Holley Nelson; two great-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; and a special friend, John Barbee.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Larry Griffin officiating. Burial with full military honors will be the Sumter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
