Obituary for Margaret Owens Costner

Margaret Owens Costner, 76, widow of Gary Costner, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at her home.

Born May 26, 1943, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Oris M. Owens, Sr. and the late Leila Geddings Owens. She worked as a legal assistant for several law offices in the Sumter area. Margaret was a very kind, generous, and loving person. She was always willing to help anyone she met. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include two daughters, Michelle Warner Bales (Shannon) and Shannon Warner Perry all of Murfreesboro, TN; six grandchildren, Austin Powell, Spence Powell, Ethan Powell, Jayden Bales, Courtney Swenson, and Alex Perry; two great-grandchildren, Braelyn Perry and Oakleigh Swenson; a brother, O. Melvin Owens, Jr. of Sumter; a sister, Linda O. McCoy of Columbia; her special dog, Elvis; several nieces and nephews; and her former husband and the father of her daughters, Merrill D. Warner.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Nancy Gregory, Mary Lee Robinson, and Shirley Stanley.

A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dan Keaton officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
